Overview

A website redesign for FdS Law Firm, a Brazilian law firm serving businesses. The project focused on improving information architecture, clarifying the firm's services, and creating a digital experience that balances professional credibility with a contemporary visual identity.

Role: UI/UX Designer

Scope: Competitive Analysis, Heuristic Evaluation, Information Architecture, User Flows, Sitemap, UI Design

Tool: Figma

The Challenge

FdS had a bold brand identity, but its website did not fully communicate the firm's expertise or make its services easy to understand. The visual direction felt too young for the level of trust expected from a legal partner, while the content structure left room for improvement in navigation and information hierarchy.

The challenge was to create a more credible and intuitive digital experience without relying on the conventional, overly corporate aesthetics often associated with law firms.

The redesign needed to connect the firm's visual personality with the clarity, confidence, and professionalism expected by potential clients.

Research & Evaluation

Competitive analysis and a heuristic evaluation provided the foundation for the redesign.

The competitive analysis examined how other law firms presented their services, structured their content, and communicated credibility online.

The heuristic evaluation focused on the existing website's navigation, usability, information hierarchy, and interface consistency.

Together, these analyses highlighted opportunities to improve three areas:

  • Service clarity: making the firm's expertise and offering easier to understand.

  • Navigation: creating a more intuitive path through the website.

  • Visual hierarchy: giving greater prominence to essential information and key actions.

These findings informed the site's structure and the subsequent interface design.

Information Architecture

With the main opportunities identified, the next step was to organise the content around the information visitors needed and the actions they might want to take.

User flows mapped the main journeys through the website, from understanding the firm and exploring its services to finding a way to get in touch. A sitemap translated these journeys into a clearer page structure and established the foundation for navigation.

This stage connected the research to the design: instead of treating each page as an isolated layout, the website was approached as a coherent experience with a clear relationship between content, navigation, and user actions.

UI Design

The visual direction needed to balance two priorities: preserving FdS's distinctive brand personality and communicating the credibility expected from a law firm.

A more structured layout, deliberate spacing, and clearer content hierarchy create a calmer and more legible experience. Typography and visual elements reinforce a contemporary character while allowing the firm's expertise and services to remain the focus.

Rather than adopting a generic corporate aesthetic, the interface uses consistency, clarity, and visual restraint to communicate professionalism while retaining the brand's individuality.

Final Interface

The final interface brings the research, information architecture, and visual direction together in a cohesive website design.

The page structure supports clearer content discovery, while the visual hierarchy helps visitors distinguish key information and understand the firm's offering. Across the interface, the design aims to create a stronger connection between FdS's brand identity and the experience presented to potential clients.
